Chamberlain Coffee artist series
Gabriel Leon
When did you start your art journey?
I don’t have an exact start date but have always been artistically inclined. I’d estimate I started drawing around 4 years old.
What moment in your life inspired you the most to pursue art?
Probably all the cartoons and movies I watched as a kid from Tim Burton, Wes Anderson, and Laika Studios. Stop–motion films really inspired me to make art. I wanted to draw and create things as cool as the entertainment I consumed.
Which individuals or aspects of culture influence your work the most?
Tim Burton’s stop–motion movies and horror movies. And it’s 100% unbiased, but one of my biggest inspirations has been Emma herself. She’s someone I’ve looked up to as a huge entertainment source for the past 4-5 years.
What drew you to this project with Chamberlain Coffee?
I started buying Chamberlain Coffee products in the beginning of 2020 and have built quite a collection ever since. When I first saw the artist series, I immediately wanted to be part of it. Not long ago, I spoke
to a close friend about my wish to be chosen and a month later I was selected by Emma, which was surreal and meant a lot especially since I only began drawing and posting my art last January.
What was the inspiration behind your limited–edition coffee bag design?
I felt inspired by Emma and the brand. I knew I wanted to include certain elements like a comfortable space, in this case the car, and some sort of setting of being stuck like how the girl sits. Positions are very important to me when I’m drawing.
What fuels your creativity and inspires you to create?
Mainly Pinterest. I get extremely inspired and feel like ideas flow more easily when I’m browsing. I look and save daily, taking inspiration from other artists, home interiors, movies, quotes, song lyrics, etc.
What is your creative/painting routine? (e.g., do you listen to music? Do you drink coffee?)
I like to sit alone and watch a movie or YouTube videos in the background while drawing. I find it relaxing and
entertaining at the same time. I used to listen to music, but it seemed boring after 30 minutes, so I tried other forms of entertainment that worked better for me.
How would you describe your art style?
Very droopy, tired, and sad. Since I was little, I’ve been really inspired by Tim Burton’s way of drawing faces and features. I feel inspired when I’m sad and decided to add my own twist. I make every effort to express different feelings but keep the essence of sad features and
tiredness throughout my drawings.
What is your go-to beverage order?
I’ve always played it safe with drinks. I think my go-to order is 2-3 espresso shots with an appropriate amount of almond milk and ice, plus some vanilla syrup. I’ll order an iced vanilla matcha with almond milk if I’m feeling tea instead.
If you were a Chamberlain Coffee beverage, what would you be?
I would love to be an Early Bird cold brew but hate waking up early so I think I’d be a Careless Cat cold brew with almond milk and maybe vanilla.

When did you start your art journey?
I started my art journey three years ago in Korea.
What moment in your life inspired you to pursue art the most?
I find inspiration in ordinary moments of everyday life.
What prompted you to participate in this project with Chamberlain Coffee?
I wanted to create a painting that captures the aroma of coffee.
What was the inspiration behind the limited edition coffee bag design?
I painted while imagining an elderly person embodying the depth of life, accompanied by the aroma of coffee.
What inspires and fuels your creativity?
I find inspiration in people's everyday lives, their expressions, and gestures.
What is your creative/artistic practice? (e.g., Do you listen to music? Do you drink coffee?)
I often listen to piano music. And I walk, trying to capture interesting moments with each step I take.
How would you describe your artistic style?
Freedom and fluidity.
How would you like to place your drink order?
I'll have a cup of coffee for today.
If you were a Chamberlain Coffee beverage, what would you be?
The bittersweet but persistently lingering Americano. I believe it represents the simplicity of everyday life well.

When did you start your art journey?
I’ve always loved watercolor but didn't start posting art until about a year ago
What moment in your life inspired you the most to pursue art?
During and especially after the pandemic I spent the majority of my time alone. I started pursuing art in that time of isolation I think to keep myself busy and not get wrapped up in my own thoughts. I also moved out about a year and a half ago and I think the huge transition from being a kid to an adult really impacted me emotionally and still impacts a lot of my art to this day.
Which individuals or aspects of culture influence your work the most?
A lot of my work is influenced by some of Tim Burton's films like Coraline, and the Princess Bride. I also find a lot of inspiration from Sara Hagel's art on Instagram @shagey.
What drew you to this project with Chamberlain Coffee?
Just the thought of associating with Emma’s coffee brand was amazing. I saw some posts on Instagram of the artist series and a few people commented about it also which really interested me.
What was the inspiration behind your limited-edition coffee bag design?
I wanted to encapsulate the vibe of what her channel meant to me and how she made me feel which was that it's okay to not always be your most productive self and that laying in bed or staying home all day and recharging is perfectly okay.
What fuels your creativity and inspires you to create?
I am fueled by a lot of my own emotions and the emotions of others around me. They inspire me to create something that other people might be able to relate to in a way that makes them feel better about emotions that might be seen as abnormal or dramatic.
What is your creative/painting routine? (e.g. do you listen to music? Do you drink coffee?)
I like to drink iced coffee in the mornings or tea at night with candles and a movie.
How would you describe your art style?
I would describe my art style as “existential.”
What is your go-to beverage order?
Iced coffee or matcha with milk and creamer
If you were a Chamberlain Coffee beverage, what would you be?
Sneaky Bat Pumpkin Spice Blend

When did you start your art journey?
I’ve always been fascinated by art. My love began very early on and grew more serious around the age of 7. I got into digital art at 12.
What moment in your life inspired you the most to pursue art?
Nature inspires me. Humans amaze me, and the beauty of all types of minds and bodies really influences my art.
Which individuals or aspects of culture influence your work the most?
I love drama, thrillers, comedy, and sometimes horror movies. I get really inspired by Aurora’s song lyrics. I’m a big fan of Maria Muravski, Vincent Van Gogh, Sigrun Gunnarsdóttir, Ida Rentoul Outhwaite, Edward Fuglø and Sámal Joensen Mikines.
What drew you to this project with Chamberlain Coffee?
I love the brand’s individual characters and colorful packaging. I feel so incredibly grateful to be a part of it all.
What was the inspiration behind your limited edition coffee bag design?
So the thing is, I love plants and own about 1,000 of them. I heard in one of Emma’s podcast episodes that she’s beginning to love them, too. And I figured, wow, this is such a beautiful thing to have in common! Plants give a wonderful boost to every painting. I wanted it to be perfect, and I was like, let’s just make a painting full of plants! Because why not? And of course they drink coffee, cause that’s why we’re here, right?
What fuels your creativity and inspires you to
My family really motivates me. I also enjoy walks in nature and finding inspiration outside.
What is your creative/painting routine?
I always listen to music, but if there’s a new episode of Anything Goes, I listen to that. I like to sit in bed with some cozy lights on, plus an iced latte that’s probably going to get spilled.
How would you describe your art style?
It’s very quiet. I like stillness in my paintings. I always make very tired eyes because I think that makes us all look a little bit cooler.
What is your go-to beverage order?
An iced latte with oat milk creamer.
If you were a Chamberlain Coffee beverage, what would you be?
I think I’d be the Night Owl.

When did you start your art journey?
I remember a video my mom recorded of
4–year–old me painting castles on newspapers. Art was always a part of my life, and it’s heartwarming to see this passion grow.
What moment in your life inspired you the most to pursue art?
Many moments of honesty and my mom’s constant support encouraged to pursue art after high school.
Which individuals or aspects of culture influence your work the most?
My favorite thing is learning from other artists’ work and life experiences. There are a few stories that I’m highly inspired by right now.
What drew you to this project with Chamberlain Coffee?
Emma’s team reached out to me via Instagram, and I was more than happy to participate!
What was the inspiration behind your limited–edition coffee bag design?
I typically paint with references from life or
photographs, so this was a great opportunity to play with imagination and
associations. The image of a child was created by simultaneously using two of
my biggest current interests: portraits and still life.
What fuels your creativity and inspires you to create?
Anything alive fuels my inner need to paint. Interesting faces, scenes, figures, and light all inspire me, along with other artists’ work. Different approaches and techniques also excite me. The infinite
possibilities to grow and discover…I couldn’t ask for more!
What is your creative/painting routine? (e.g.
do you listen to music? Do you drink coffee?)
Painting immerses me in the moment, which is
both intense and calming. I love to put on some good TV shows in the
background, too.
How would you describe your art style?
Above all, I try to capture the light and
convey the atmosphere of the scene that provoked some emotion in me; whatever
clicked and made me take a brush. Wrinkles on smiling faces, freshly cut peaches
in the sunlight, or a screaming baby in the cup. I try to use what seems true
for the moment, whether it’s delicate brushwork illustration or visible
painting strokes. I hope this exudes the kind of impression life makes on me.
What is your go-to beverage order?
Coffee culture is not the biggest thing in my
country, so I don’t drink it on a regular basis.
If you were a Chamberlain Coffee beverage,
what would you be?
Hot chocolate!

Sandy Cruz
When did you start your art journey?
Art has always been part of my life one way or another. It started with coloring books and crafts at school, then just stuck with me. Now I act on my desire to create through different mediums and methods.
What moment in your life inspired you the most to pursue art?
As a senior in high school, my art teacher encouraged me to apply to a non–profit art organization called Ryman Arts, where I took art classes with incredible instructors. I was mind blown by the creative environment and couldn’t help but feel at home. That’s when I really began to feel passionate about art.
Which individuals or aspects of culture influence your work the most?
Movies, songs, people, landscapes, or any points of interest ignite a rush of creativity. My go-to when I need inspiration is stop–motion films. Some personal favorites are Corpse Bride, The Nightmare Before Christmas, Paramorman, and Coraline.
What drew you to this project with Chamberlain Coffee?
During the pandemic, I spent most of my day watching Emma’s videos alone. They made me feel like everything was going to be alright. Emma is kind of a character in her own short films, so I became inspired to recreate some of my favorite scenes. As an artist, it was also Emma’s encouragement since her father is an artist. It means the world to see artists get support, especially from someone I admire.
What was the inspiration behind your limited-edition coffee bag design?
The inspiration behind my design of Emma was to express a homey feeling of comfort. I love to draw kitchens and everyday scenes, so I thought this was a perfect combination for the project. I wanted to spotlight moments often taken for granted, like making coffee.
What fuels your creativity and inspires you to create?
Having an emotional outlet has fueled my creativity because I’m not so great at expressing my feelings. From sharing my art on the internet, I’ve learned that many people may feel the same way and find a sense of comfort in what I draw. I’m glad to see that my artistic expression helps others as much as it helps me.
What is your creative/painting routine? (e.g. do you listen to music? Do you drink coffee?)
My creative/painting routine consists of getting all my art supplies together on my desk and turning on a movie or show. I either draw an idea from the back of my head or recreate a specific scene.
How would you describe your art style?
I would describe my art as wonky and carefree. I don’t like to get caught up with perfectionism or else I would never create.
What is your go-to beverage order?
In the mornings I drink homemade hot coffee with vanilla creamer. Lemonade is my go–to drink when I’m out. I wasn’t allowed to have coffee as a kid nor in my early teen years. Instead, I drank cinnamon tea that my grandma made, but my mom and I now love to have hot coffee together with pan dulce.
If you were a Chamberlain Coffee beverage, what would you be?
An Early Bird because I’m a morning person. I’m still working on a healthy relationship with productivity, and so far, mornings have made me feel more mentally at ease.
Where can fans follow you/support your art?
I like to share my art on Instagram and the design process on TikTok as @sancarts.

Q&A
When did you start your art journey?
I've drawn ever since I can remember. It’s how I feel most comfortable expressing myself, so this illustration came naturally. I studied Fine Arts and specialized in Design, with the goal to work in graphic design studios.
What moment in your life inspired you the most to pursue art?
Whenever I was not working at graphic design studios, I began to consider dedicating myself to illustration and building a portfolio, then sending it everywhere.
Which individuals or aspects of culture influence your work the most?
Many things inspire me, from the movies to my daily walks. I like art, illustration, literature, and music, and take a little from all of these sources.
What drew you to this project with Chamberlain Coffee?
I’m very grateful to the Chamberlain Coffee team. I loved the idea of creating an artistic limited–edition coffee bag.
What was the inspiration behind your limited edition coffee bag design?
I wanted to show a calm, peaceful scene of self-care.
What fuels your creativity and inspires you to create?
Creativity requires practice like any muscle. For me, it’s important to consume culture and seek inspiration from different viewpoints while staying attentive to everything around us. That’s how artists create their own perspective and style.
What is your creative/painting routine? (e.g. do you listen to music? Do you drink coffee?)
When the work is creative and requires research, I must stay very concentrated. For the more technical processes of color and final art, I enjoy listening to podcasts.
How would you describe your art style?
My style is quite natural, with simple compositions and few elements. I am very interested in finding an emotional bond with the audience. I prefer to use a limited color palette, with textures and lines.
What is your go-to beverage order?
Water, everywhere I go!
If you were a Chamberlain Coffee beverage, what would you be?
Without doubt, I'd be a Careless Cat coffee. I need some caffeine in my life, otherwise I get really nervous.

Q&A
When did you begin your artistic career?
I started drawing as a child like most people, but don't remember the day. I kept drawing through school and university to make the time go by faster. When I finished university, I only knew how to draw and tried to make a living as an illustrator. My success was a miracle.
What moment in your life inspired you the most
to take up art?
I found a graphic arts school called the Joso in Barcelona, where I felt at home from the first day. Those were incredible years surrounded by good artists, and I learned a lot.
What people or aspects of culture most influence your work?
I'm interested in all personalities, from the most boring guy to an out-of-control madman. I also love films, books, and radio.
What attracted you to this project with Chamberlain Coffee?
I've never drawn anything around coffee before. Since it's a drink I make daily, I thought I could turn it around.
What was the inspiration for the design of your limited edition coffee bag?
Whenever I look for an idea, I try to take the design back to my experiences and create a personal opinion. I haven't always been a coffee drinker since I'm very nervous, but recent sleeping problems require a little caffeine to get me going. I'm very aware of its effects.
What feeds your creativity and inspires you to create?
Walking helps me a lot. I really don't understand why, but ideas just come to me. I don't have a system, but instead think about something until I get an idea that motivates me.
What is your creative/pictorial routine (e.g. do you listen to music? do you drink coffee?)?
Coffee, cigarettes, and music if I already have an idea. If I don't have the idea, I'm quietly spinning and thinking very hard.
How would you describe your artistic style?
Absurd
What is your favorite drink order?
On the rocks and fizzy.
If you were a Chamberlain Coffee drink, what would you be?
I would be a Chamberlain Coffee with lots of toppings, very excessive.

Q&A
When did youstart your art journey?
Pinpointing a specific start date feels weird but, If I must, it was when I started working under the name ‘duhrivative’ in 2017. However, I was drawing and painting long before then, since around the age of 8 years old.
What moment in your life inspired you the most to pursue art?
Thinking back there were several moments, but a cultural breaking point was connecting with Justin Moran at PAPER Magazine to do 100 portraits for PAPER Predictions in 2019. This was a pivotal moment in my personal and professional life, when I decided to abandon all else and commit whole-heartedly to my art.
Which individuals or aspects of culture influence your work the most?
Pop-culture, music, art movements, philosophy, existentialism, dadaism, and mostly my own thoughts.
What drew you to this project with Chamberlain Coffee?
Well, Emma Chamberlain being a boss lady. I also love coffee, and value brands that respect and want to work with contemporary artists, so these things together equal a great co llaboration.
What was the inspiration behind your limited edition coffee bag design?
I wanted to utilize photos of Emma and the product of some sort, though I didn’t know whether it would be mugs or coffee bags. After several iterations, I landed on the idea of Emma standing in a pile of coffee beans, almost appearing like she's in an illustrative wonderland of sorts.
What fuels your creativity and inspires you to create?
Other artists. Art history. My younger self. My sobriety. Queer people.
What is your creative/painting routine? (e.g. do you listen to music? Do you drink coffee?)
I am always rotating at least 4-6 projects at any given time. Regarding the environment around me, I pretty much listen to music or, as of late, watch really dark, murderous shows...but generally listen to music. And yes, coffee. Always drinking coffee.
How would you describe your art style?
I struggle with this, but here are a few tags: Digital Collage. Neo-Expressionist. Post-Pop Portraiture. Digital Pop Surrealism.
What is your go-to beverage order?
Dark Roast Drip Coffee. Nothin’ in it! I want to taste the Earth. And yes, I have to double down with baristas whenever I ask for this. Or Root Beer at restaurants (are we talkin’ just coffee here? lol)
If you were a Chamberlain Coffee beverage, what would you be?

I was born in a little town near Turin, in Italy.
Grew up with a “painter-soul”, I work now, as a full time illustrator.
I love to be inspired by the people and the feelings that surround me. Always have my camera with me to capture everyday life and bring it back into my illustrations. I like to invent and draw characters, especially animals and women that are characterized by simple shapes but full of details and by bright and contrasting colors.
My art piece for Chamberlain Coffee represents 3 characters, anthropomorphic dogs, who take a break from their stressed life.
They are surrounded by nature and sipping from a cup, intent to share good vibes and good coffee.
Where are you based?
I’m based in Italy
When did you start your art journey?
I have loved drawing since I was a child and I have developed this passion also thanks to my artistic career. I graduated at Accademia Albertina of Fine Arts in Turin in 2016, and in the same year I attended the Master in editorial illustration “Ars in Fabula” in Macerata.
What moment in your life inspired you the most to pursue art?
When I lived in Turin and attended the academy of fine arts, I painted every day and was surrounded by a lot of art. In the same time I became passionate about illustration and I began to mix painting and illustration, so I decided to dedicate my life being an illustrator.
Which individuals or aspects of culture influence your work the most?
I am fascinated by many painters, Casorati, Rousseau, Tamara de Lempicka ... I also take inspiration from fashion photography, I love Helmut Newton, old films and everything that captures my visual imagination.
What drew you to this project with Chamberlain Coffee?
Chamberlain coffee told me about this project and I fell in love with the visual research of the brand and its products so..here we are.
What was the inspiration behind your limited edition coffee bag design? My idea was to show some characters sipping from a cup into the nature. They look like anthropomorphic dogs taking a pause from their stressed life, intent to share good feeling and good coffee.
What fuels your creativity and inspires you to create?
I lived my all life surrounded by greenery, tall trees and swift rivers, so that is my mean of inspiration.
What is your creative/painting routine?
While I work I like to listen to music and always have a cup of espresso in my hand.
How would you describe your art style?
My art work is characterized by simple shapes but full of details, bright and contrasting colors.
What is your go-to beverage order?
Coffee, green tea, and herbal infusion.
If you were a Chamberlain Coffee beverage, what would you be?
I would be Fancy Mouse Espresso Blend.

Chamberlain-Coffee;
Q&A Joschka Dmitry Wißuwa
Where are you based?
I am based in Germany. Where I live is pretty close to the Netherlands, Belgium and France - which I like because living here is pretty varied.
When did you start your art journey?
I started it when I first came in touch with paint at the age of two in the kindergarten. Ever since I always liked experimenting with it. When I turned four and knew how to hold a pencil properly I started drawing but with the time I got back to mainly painting.
What moment in your life inspired you the most to pursue art?
It’s difficult to specify this to only one certain moment. I guess to me it’s rather an inner feeling to keep on painting and creating. Maybe it’s also the charm of improving skills and looking where it’s going in the future. I wonder what my art might look like in a year or two and I am keen to then look back at where I’ve developed from - and how.
Which individuals or aspects of culture influence your work the most?
I am obsessed with painters like Egon Schiele, Matisse, Paul Gaugin, Max Beckmann and many more. Either it’s their way to coordinate and set colors, or further painting techniques. I am also influenced by music - sometimes the sound or the lyrics leave pictures in my head that I then partly include in my paintings. The same goes for other artistic impressions such as architecture, design, film etc.
What drew you to this project with Chamberlain Coffee?
I just really like the fact of artist being supported. I feel like most people don’t understand how much effort, work and time we put into one single piece so being able to show my work beyond social media, where everything seems so simple, is amazing. I highly appreciate that! On top I love that this project allows us to do what we as individuals like to give us the best stage possible!
What was your the inspiration behind your limited edition coffee bag design?
What I wanted to create was an intimate coffee moment. I therefore was inspired by daydreams and how wonderful it sometimes is to loose yourself in such. In my painting, coffee plays an important role for exactly that because it´s its flavour that makes the figure dream such as the coffee fruits that nestle around the figures finger. The painting stands between a surrealist abstraction of ornaments and reality to portray exactly that.
What fuels your creativity and inspires you to create?
Other artists, museums, music, fashion, peoples faces and the whole process of creating, painting planning that really calms me - as strenuous it can be sometimes.
What is your creative routine?
It depends. Sometimes I just randomly have a finished painting idea in my head and convince myself like, yeah you NEED to paint that!“ This happens wherever and whenever. Then I need to sketch it down ASAP to not forget what I saw in my imagination. Before I begin I scroll through books, Pinterest and saved instagram posts to help me define my vision with painting-techniques, colors, the figures facial features, the clothing and so on. Then I start painting.
Not as often but sometimes I just start painting and then figure out during the process what I want to do and what it’s supposed to look like.
While painting I either watch things on my laptop or listen to music.
How would you describe your art style?
I would describe my artstyle as decorative and aesthetically thought-through. I would even admit thatit has something obscure and pessimistic no matter how bright and saturated the colors are but I like it that way. When I was younger it was the completeopposite so maybe I just grew away from it - but who knows where I will go next.
What is your go-to beverage order?
Always something withcaffeine! Depending on the weather it’s either an ice cold cola or a hotblack coffee without milk orsugar that I sip away in two shots.
If you were a Chamberlain Coffee beverage what would you be?
The early bird I think. I enjoy waking up in the morning when I have things to get done - even when I am tired. On top: going outside in the morning has something so relaxing to it. No matter where you’re going.
The whole world and weather seems to be more calming than in the afternoon. Facing a new day is cool and that usually begins with the early birds singing. I love it.

Where are you based?
Hi! My name is Jihad, I’m a 20-year-old illustrator, living in Lebanon.
When did you start your art journey?
I have always been into art to the point I don’t remember myself not drawing and painting every now and then.
What moment in your life inspired you the most to pursue art?
I grew up in a very supportive household even though i ruined the walls in my room with random doodles and sketches. Until my 10th birthday, when my dad got me one of those very fancy art supplies box with all the art mediums you could ever imagine. Since then I have not stopped drawing and exploring my art style.
Which individuals or aspects of culture influence your work the most?
I have always been interested in Tim Burton’s movies and the exaggeration of expressions and characters and backgrounds.
I also find myself searching “unique faces” or “exaggerated one point of view photography” on Pinterest and getting inspiration from them.
What drew you to this project with Chamberlain Coffee?
Working with Chamberlain Coffee was a dream come true. Other than the fact that i absolutely love the aesthetic of the brand, they gave me the freedom to work on something that represents and is inspired by me as an artist in a way or another.
What was the inspiration behind your limited edition coffee bag design?
My illustration exhibits an exaggerated point of view. As you can see I drew a person’s lower half, at the door step grabbing groceries. On the ground there’s a broken mason jar with a splatter of coffee everywhere. You can only imagine the expressions on the persons face and that’s the fun part
What fuels your creativity and inspires you to create?
I do not mean to sound cliché but everything and everyone around me!
What is your creative/painting routine? (e.g. do you listen to music? Do you drink coffee?)
I usually listen to podcasts and my “arting” playlist while I’m drawing but I also, weirdly enough, watch crime documentaries too !
How would you describe your art style?
This artwork represents me; I am a very clumsy messy person (the coffee mess) which can be a lot sometimes but I can also manage to keep it all together and ground myself (the tight grip around the grocery bags) I have been experimenting with art styles and mediums for so long but I finally found mine. I would say my art is amplified. I use contrast in colors a lot too. Everyone who knows me says that my art looks like me in a way and i am still trying to
figure out how
What is your go-to beverage order?
Ironically I do not drink coffee, or I like to believe that maybe i have not found my “go to” yet. I do drink raspberry matcha occasionally though so that is a plus!
If you were a Chamberlain Coffee beverage, what would you be?
If I were a Chamberlain Coffee beverage I would be matcha! It’s just something about that green color that is just so cool and laid back.

- I’ve been making artworks using different art mediums since 2017, but in 2020, during the first lockdown, I had more time to explore with the digital art medium. That’s when I developed my art style and love for digital illustration and animation.
What moment in your life inspired you the most to pursue art?
- My interest in art started before studying Fine Arts at the University, but it grew immensely throughout my college journey as I got more exposed to different art mediums and art styles which made my knowledge and love for art in general get deeper.
Which individuals or aspects of culture influence your work the most?
- The inspirations of my artworks always come from films and the characters or people that give me some kind of impact. I read somewhere that “every movie, song, story, or person has a best part” and I always keep that in mind everytime I watch movies, listen to songs, or meet people, and I think that it is part of my “artist's gut” that ideas and art concepts of those “best parts” will immediately come to my mind and it leads me into making a visualization of my ideas.
What drew you to this project with Chamberlain Coffee?
- I’ve always loved Emma and everything she does. In fact, I have done a few animations of Emma in the past wherein I have included the brand or products of the brand in each of my artwork leading to my being involved in this special project.
What was the inspiration behind your limited edition coffee bag design?
- Basically, the playful and fun aesthetic of the brand is the main inspiration of the artwork design. I wanted to show Emma’s love for coffee in this artwork — I made a perspective of Emma getting a jar of coffee inside the refrigerator. Using the perspective, even with all the elements in this artwork, the focused subject is a jar of Chamberlain coffee. To
add a little fun, I included the characters of the brand showing their individual characteristics and I thought it’s a great idea to see Emma with these characters.
What fuels your creativity and inspires you to create?
- As an artist, there are some points where I get into a creative slump, and what I do to get out of it and to inspire me to create is by listening to Emma’s motivational podcast, “Anything Goes” and by watching my comfort films. The beauty of film cinematography inspires my works a lot, not only in illustrations, but also in photography.
What is your creative/painting routine? (e.g. do you listen to music? Do you drink coffee?)
- Watching films through picture-in-picture at the corner of my laptop screen while I illustrate is the usual setting when I create. Though sometimes it could be distracting, I’ll just listen to music or podcasts while I snack on some fruits and chips.
How would you describe your art style?
- I think what best describes my art style is that it is “satire” or “comfortably unsettling”. It shows realism, yet it is also whimsical. My art style showcases the characters’ personalities that are almost entirely evident at first sight because of the use of exaggerated features that, in a way, makes the subject interesting, unique, and aesthetically pleasing.
What is your go-to beverage order?
- A hot or cold chocolate drink is my go-to beverage order. It’s a great drink for mornings and nights, for the cold weather or hot weather.
If you were a Chamberlain Coffee beverage, what would you be?
- I would definitely be a ‘Night Owl Blend’. I find myself more creative and productive during late nights. I tend to stay awake until the wee hours as I usually get ideas and also get in the mood to create during those times.
Where can fans follow you/support your art?
- Instagram is my favorite way of showing my artworks and connecting with people from around the world. My instagram page is @jusslim_.
